On this half day tour you will discover the essential places of Salvador and learn about the history of the first capital of the colony Brazil. By car we go to the Barra neighbourhood at the entrance of the largest bay of Brazil and the famous Lighthouse of Barra. From here we ride by the main avenue, with an elegant part full of trees and expensive condominiums and a busy commercial area, to the Historical Center, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is the largest complex of colonial architecture in South America, also called the Pelourinho. Here we do a walking tour passing by several beautiful squares with old colonial, colorful houses and churches and stroll pleasantly through the narrow, busy streets paved with cobblestones. Some important spots we will see are: the Elevator Lacerda, the Cathedral and the Pelourinho Square. It’s also a must to visit the convent of São Francisco with its ensemble of Portuguese « Azulejos » and the church with its exuberant Baroque interior covered by gold leaves.
