Bahir Dar Bahir dar is small town set on the south -eastern shore of Lake Tana ( Ethiopia’s largest lake ) , where local fisher men still use papyrus boats and just 30km from the spectacular Tis Issat falls . Here the Blue Nile creates ‘smoking water an awe-inspiring sight as it plunges into the gorge below . There are a number of Monasteries dotted on the lake Tana . Lalibela Which is known as in other word ‘ the second Jerusalem ‘ situated in the north historical route of Ethiopia .Lalibela is a centre for this town in 12th century & there is 12 rock remarkable hewn church built by angels and inscribed on the world heritage list UNESCO . Gondar This is we call it the Camelot of Africa . Gonder is a place for 16th century capital and castle . The royal palaces and churches had been built in this Gonder Compound and inscribed UNESCO . Semen Mountain Semen mountain is a land of splendid, and breathtaking and massive trekking territory .It i the major highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Degen ( 4,620m) ,which is the forth highest peak in the continent . There are endemic fauna and flora in Semen Mountains such as like Endemic Chelad Baboon, Semen fox , Walia Ibex . This is also registered on the world heritage list UNESCO . Mekele The capital town of Emperor Yohannes IV ( 1871-1889 ). Makele is now the main city of Tigray region. The Emperor’s Palace has been turned into a particular interesting museum , with many exhibit of his time and subsequent history , This City also well known as a transit point for the camel caravans bringing salt up from the arid lands of the Danakil Depression .
