The elevators of Lisbon

The elevator da Bica inaugurated in 1892 was used by workers and fishing women from the Ribeira Market. With 283 meters long it will drive us until the Bairro Alto (upper town) the favorite quarter for night life, being the Largo do Camões the meeting point among the locals to begin the night program. The next photo stop for one of the best view over down town will be at the Elevador Santa Justa, this one a real vertical elevator! We continue passing by the nice belvedere S. Pedro de Alcantâra before going down with the Elevator da Gloria. Since our marry- go- round tour is not yet over we are going to get our last and the oldest Cable car da Lavra inaugurated in 1884. On your way to the down town we will pass by the houses of Amália and Camões both well known inhabitants of Lisbon.
