We leave for Bastogne and meet there our battlefield guide. The tour starts with a short introduction, gathered around the 11th Armored Division « Thunderbolt » Sherman tank, « Road to Liberty » milestone and the McAuliffe Monument at the Place McAuliffe. We set off for the battlefield tour: Bizory, Bois de la Paix (Peace Wood), Bois Jacques (foxholes of the « Easy Company », well-known from the « Band of Brothers »), Foy, Recogne (US temporary cemetary and German cemetary), Noville (Combat Team Desobry) and the Mardasson. A quick lunch is taken in Bastogne. We also visit the cellar where Gen. McAuliffe pronounced the historical « nuts ! » as answer to the Germans who asked the Americans to surrender. Other places we can visit, depending of tour program and time available: Villers-la-Bonne-Eau (« Desolation Corner »), Assenois, Patton Memorial, Champ, Longchamp, Boggess fort (breakpoint of the Bastogne encirclement), …
