Overview

Parma has a wealth of sightseeing draws, many of them linked to the years when this was a Farnese and Bourbon dukedom and it has elevated a taste for the good life into a global brand: Parma ham and Parmesan cheese are served across the globe. The tour starts with Palazzo della Pilotta, built in the 16th century, as a court service building annexed to the Ducal Palace. Here you can visit the Farnese theatre, a 17th century stunning wooden theatre where the first-ever revolving stages were installed. Piazza del Duomo has three beautiful buildings: the cathedral, the Bishop s Palace, and the Baptistery. Parma Baptistery fully justifies a trip to Parma. The octagon-shaped structure was begun in the 12th century. Inside, sixteen painted sections rise to the dome pinnacle. The tour ends in Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of Parma since Roman times. Many of the buildings on this square date from the 13th through the 16th century among them the Palace of the Governor with its tower. ITINERARY Palazzo della Pilotta, Farnese theatre (visit inside), Piazza del Duomo, Cathedral (visit inside), Bishop’s Palace, Baptistery (visit inside), Piazza Garibaldi. Tickets for Teatro Farnese € 2,00/each and for the baptistery € 6,00/each
