One of the most exciting things to do is to climb Chulu East Peak. The peak, at an altitude of 6,584 meters, provides breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding mountains, including the Annapurna range, Manaslu (8,163 meters), Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters), and Tilicho (7,134 meters). The ascent is rather technical, thus only hikers with relevant experience should attempt it. The sheer variety of things to see and do in this area makes traveling here a joy.
The green, lush splendor of the area will greet us as our adventure begins in Jagat. There are several beautiful Buddhist communities among the Manages, Thakali, and Gurung peoples that we will be passing through as we trek across steep and icy terrain to get there. Additionally, the region’s deep valleys provide an ideal habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. This area is well-known for being home to several endangered species, including the Himalayan sheep, the Ibex, and the elusive snow leopard. A glimpse of Manang’s natural splendor will be revealed to us. Tibetan Buddhism is the dominant religion in Tibet, and its culture and rituals offer a rare and delicious glimpse into the beliefs and customs of this ancient and beautiful faith. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you pass through forgotten communities on this hike. In contrast to the gentle villages, the ascent provides a challenging ascent and favorable weather for climbing. But the scenery from the peak is breathtaking, and our eyes will start to glaze over if we look at the scenery for too long. The trip requires the use of ice axes, climbing ropes, and crampons. It’s hard not to be in amazement while hiking to the top of the Chulu East Peak, which is surrounded by some genuinely mystical mountains.
