Bordeaux has a rich history : it has been an international trade port for 2700 years and is the centre of one of the most famous vineyards in the world.
Home to several famous French autors such as Michel de Montaigne (16th c. humanist), Montesqieu (18th c. philosopher of the Enlightenment) and François Mauriac (20th c Nobel Prize winner), the city has been partially rebuilt in the 18th century, applying the urbanistic concepts of the Enlightenment. Bordeaux has been chosen as « Best European Destination 2015 » and is the largest UNESCO World Heritage city centre in the world !
Bordeaux is also a very lively and lovely city : it has been chosen as « favorite French city of the French people » in 2015, thanks to its way of life and its numerous cafés and lovely historical squares.
And let us not forget the food ! Come and taste some specialities (wine, canelé…), or eat in the restaurant of an international chef, such as Philippe Etchebest, Joël Robuchon or Gordon Ramsay !
