Overview

Our walking tour of the old core of Belgrade will start at Student Square or at your centrally located hotel. Although Belgrade is one of the oldest towns in Europe, it is considered that it is 7000 years old, not much from the distant past is visible now. Most of the buildings in the area date from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century. The oldest part of the town is the Belgrade Fortress, and it had been built over the centuries. The tour starts at the Republic Square in front of the National Museum and National Theatre. It includes a walk through the pedestrian street Knez Mihailova which is lined with historical buildings. At the end of is the entrance to Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress. After the tour of the fortress, the next stop is in the area of the Orthodox Cathedral, Patriarch’s Court and the Mansion of Princess Ljubica and King Peter I Street to Academic Park and the University buildings.

The best preserved part was built by the Habsburgs and the Ottoman Empire in the 17th and 18th centuries and the central part built by Serbian Prince Stefan in the 15th century.
The tour starts at the Republic Square in front of the National Museum and National Theatre.
It includes a walk through the pedestrian street Knez Mihailova which is lined with historical buildings.
At the end of the street is the entrance to Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress.
