Overview

Hi, my name is Ann, and I am offering You the 3h Helsinki History and Architecture Tour in English. Neoclassicism, Neo-Renaissance, Art Nouveau, Modern, Functionalism, and Contemporary architectural styles in their very Finnish enterpretation – we will see them all on our route. This tour will be more visually esthetics-oriented than your traditional sightseeing tour and at the end of it, we will think together: about what color Helsinki is.

Additionally to the historical center, we will visit the island of Katajanokka and admire its gorgeous Art Nouveau atmosphere, and residential buildings filled with decorative motifs and elaborate features. Did you know that Helsinki has about 600 Art Nouveau buildings!? That’s more than that of Barcelona or Brussels, and it definitely makes it globally unique.

Also, we will make a visit to the new and super popular library of Helsinki – Oodi, which is a place you don’t want to miss when in Helsinki!

I am a licensed Helsinki guide and I have conducted various tours for quite a while. My guiding style is « educational and entertaining », meaning that you will have loads of facts presented in an easy, fun, and friendly manner. I am knowledgeable in various fields, but my tours are not boring history lessons. Instead, we will have a lively narrative and discussion, and I promise you: YOU will WANT to know more!

This sightseeing tour is designed as a walking tour and is suitable for individuals, families, friends, and smaller and larger groups.
