Overview Masai Mara Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve is one of East Africa’s most famous safari destinations and a favourite amongst wildlife lovers, photographers and conservationists. The Masai Mara National Reserve (also known as the Maasai Mara) lies in the Kenya Rift Valley Province in south-western Kenya. The Reserve forms a northern extension to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Renowned for its magnificent Big Cat population that hunt the wildebeest, zebra and other plains game that dominate the Mara, it has even been nicknamed the Kingdom of the Lions. In the east, the sandy hills and bushes of Ngama Hills are preferred by Africa’s endangered black rhino. The western border of the Mara is demarcated by the Oloololo Escarpment. For excellent sightings of elephant, giraffe, lion, cheetah and leopard. Mara Triangle is bordered by the Mara River, with acacia woodland and lush grassland, attracting a high concentration of wildebeest during the annual migration. The Central Plains cover the largest area of the Mara, with outcrops of boulders, scattered bushes and savannah grasslands favored by plains game. The National Reserve is unfenced, and the animals are free to roam across its boundaries into huge ‘dispersal areas’. The dispersal areas are home to many Maasai villages and the residents have developed a synergy with the wildlife. Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Kenya We pick you at 7am at your residence or City Hotel and head to the safari depature terminal at the CBD city market. You will be briefed about the Safari Road Trip by our staff member. 8am – Depart from the capital of Kenya; Nairobi. We drive westwards to the rift valley escarpment with spectacular scenic views of the Great Rift Valley which stretches all the Way from Lebanon to Mozambique. We descend down the escarpment , arrive in Narok town for lunch at a restaurant. The journey proceeds through the Loita hills. Enjoy scenic views of vegetations and birdlife en-route. Arrive in Masai mara late in the afternoon at around 2pm.. We check in to our camp (Rhino Tourist Camp or Similar camp) for a short rest. At around 3pm proceed for the adventurous afternoon game drives in the Great Masai Mara game reserve. Inside the park, you will be able to view and spot the Big Five hunting, lots of birdlife reptiles in the park. The afternoon game drive goes on till 6pm when you return at the camp for dinner and overnight stay. Enjoy a bonfire experience as you recollect the beautiful memories of the adventures in the park together with friends or new friends. Day 2: Masai Mara Full Day- Kenya Wake up early in the morning. Buffet breakfast served at 6am . The cheff will pack picnic lunch for you. Prepare for an adventurous full day game drive. Carry lots of drinking water that we will provide you with. You depart the camp to the park . We spend the entire day at the park searching for wildlife, birdlife , flora and fauna is in plenty at the masai mara. Maasai mara eco system supports a very wide range of fauna and flora including the carnivores and herbivores. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife. Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa’s Big Five – Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards and Rhinos, and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve, there is plenty of birdlife to watch and a lot of savannah landscape. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. The journey takes you down to the Mara river where you will have your picnic lunches. After lunch, continue with the game searching in the park. The activity continues till 6pm . Drive back to the camp for hot dinner and overnight stay at the camp. If you wish to visit the Masai manyatta villages and interact with the Masai People, you can be taken by our guides. The activity is optional and attracts an extra fee that is paid to the Maasai People as appreciation of their great culture. Day 3: Masai Mara – Nairobi Wake early at 6am and proceed for the pre-breakfast game drive in search of the nocturnal animals hunting in the dark. The morning game drive lasts till 10am. Return for breakfast at the camp and depart for Nairobi at Mid day, Arrive in Nairobi at 6pm. We drop you at your residence/Hotel. If you wish to have Diner at the Famous Carnivore restaurant after the safari we take you there. Dinner costs $30 per person and is served a variety of game meat and drinks, deserts. After dinner drop you to your residence or hotel or to the airport.
