Overview

During our full day tour of Jewish Heritage in Belgrade we will visit Jewish neighbourhoods in Belgrade and Zemun, Jewish cemeteries and synagogues. You will hear about Ashkenazim, Sephardim and Romanioti Jews and their history. These three different groups of Jews settled in Belgrade at different times and came from different areas. We can trace back the presence of Jews in Serbia to Roman times and certainly Serbs and Jews were friendly neighbours once in the Middle East. You will see homes of notable Jewish families, hear their stories and learn about the substantial contribution of Jewish citizens of Serbia in the creation of modern Serbia.
