Overview

Tours include: * The Blackstaff Way (The best introduction to the heart of Belfast). Meet two very hard working women in Great Victoria Street. Hear the fascinating story behind these sculptures. * The Farset Way (The oldest part of Belfast) THE ALBERT MEMORIAL CLOCK, HIGH STREET. A 25 m.clock tower at the river end of High Street. It has a 1 1/2 m. tilt from the vertical, gaining it the nickname of BELFAST’S LEANING TOWER. * The Victorian Way. The Belfast Botanic Gardens are situated between Queen’s University and the River Lagan. Their long and interesting history began during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, when there was a substantial upsurge of interest in botany, horticulture and gardening, and consequently the formation of ‘Botanic Gardens’ became very fashionable. Such gardens had already been established in Dublin and in Cork when the ‘Belfast Botanic and Horticultural Society’ was formed in 1827. In 1828 a 14 acre site was purchased outside the town at the junction of the Malone and Stranmillis Roads. This area was rendered suitable for the cultivation of botanical science and a botanical museum opened in the grounds. * The Bible Way (Ideal for church groups) The Thompson Memorial located just outside the BBC’s Broadcasting House in Ormeau Avenue. Both the BBC and the Thompson Memorial are included in the Bible Way Tour. Throughout Belfast the Bible played a major role in the lives of its people like Vere Foster. His direction in life was changed by the verse: ‘Go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor and thou shalt have treasure in heaven.’ Matt 19:21. *The Guide’s Way. This Walking Tour is your tour guide’s own personal choice. The duration of each tour is 1 hour 30 minutes or 2 hours at no extra cost *TAKE A WALK THE ULSTER COVENANT WAY The Ulster Covenant Walking Tour in Belfast is a leisurely walk, following in the footsteps of the men of the Ulster Covenant. The 2 hour tour will be led by a qualified guide who will bring to life the events of 1912. Every Saturday except 19th May & 29th September, from Ulster Hall, Bedford Street at 11am. Tickets are £6 and available from 10.45am. * Nightlights and Highlights Tour. Experience the excitement of Great Victoria Street and the Dublin Road area as you mingle with the many people enjoying an evening in the centre of Belfast. A number of historic buildings are floodlit, including the City Hall. On the theme of lights, walking along Donegall Place and High Street, you will see an abundance of lighted shop windows. The tour also takes in Laganside, with special lighting effects on the bridges reflecting on the river. Along this fascinating and at places, very romantic, route, your Blue Badge guide brings to light the story of Belfast. The ‘Bigfish’ by John Kindness and the ‘Doll on the Ball’ by Andrew Scott are two of the main highlights of the tour. Following the walking tour, you have an opportunity to enjoy a light meal or even Deli Delights, in one of the many eating establishments offering a variety of dishes from around the world. So, next time you book an evening meal for a group make the evening really special by also booking a ‘Nightlights and Highlights’ walking tour. Tour starts at a time and place agreed by the group organizer. Be prepared for the Belfast winter weather and wear something warm.
