Overview

To see the basic places in Barcelona, those you can’t leave without visiting, I suggest 2 visits of 4 hours each: Day 1 – a walking tour though the old town:Walking around in the Old Town is having the opportunity to taste 2000 years of history. We will visit the Ramblas, the most famous avenue in Barcelona; the interior of the Boqueria Market, the most visited market in the city; the Liceo Theatre, a great example of the magnificence of the bourgeoisie; the gothic Pi Church; the old Jewish District, the Sant Felip Neri Square and the imprint that was left upon it by the Spanish Civil War; the Cathedral (exterior); the Royal Palace; the City Council and the Palau de la Generalitat (Government Palace); the roman ruins in the Augustus Temple from the first century B.C.; and the church of Santa María del Mar (interior). In this tour we will also make a few other stops to see other exceptional places of the city that I will keep as a surprise for you. Halfway through the tour I suggest we make a stop to rest. To me, one of the best options is to go to one of the historic chocolaterias of the city where we can taste the “Suizo”: hot chocolate with cream and churros. Day 2 – the “new” Barcelona built starting in the late nineteenth century: We will start in Passeig de Gràcia, the “5th Avenue” of Barcelona, and where the wealthy families of the city settled. Among the most relevant places, we will see the Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (without entering) and we will see how the bourgeoisie lived. We will visit the inner of the Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudi’s masterwork. And finally we will go to the Park Guell. For transportation, the most usual and economic is public transportation and taxi. Another option is to rent a vehicle with driver included (such as a limousine or minivan) but we won’t really benefit much from it since many of the stops require walking. You can rearrange the tours at your liking: e.g. we could go inside the Cathedral, or the Casa Batlló or Casa Milà, or visit the Palau Güell or the Palau de la Música. Notes: It is not possible to visit the Cathedral on Saturdays after 17:00 and on Sundays only from 14:00 to 17:00. Shoulders must be covered at all times inside the Cathedral. The Boqueria Market is closed on Sundays and on Mondays many of the fish stops are closed. * * * * RESERVATION AND CONDITIONS * * * * Duration: 2 tours of 4 hours. Recommended start times: 9:30 or 15:30 at your hotel. Total cost of the Guide: 2×180€ = 360€ (if you want to extend the visit: 45€/extra hour). This tour is exclusive for you.
